The strike marked the midfielder's second goal of the season and halted his team's six-game winless run.

Kenyan midfielder Tobias Otieno opened the scoring for his Tormenta FC in the 5-1 annihilation of Lexington in the United Soccer League (USL) League One.

The 24-year-old has been a mainstay at Tormenta since joining the side from Union Omaha back in February 2022 winning the USL Cup in his debut season.

The defensive midfielder left Gor Mahia back in January 2020 to join Omaha after spending less than six months with K’Ogalo since his move from the now defunct Sony Sugar.

It only took Tobias four minutes to open the scoring for Tormenta, powering home an indirect freekick from Pedro Fonseca to notch his second goal of the season.

Tormenta continued to press their foot on the gas as they doubled their lead in the 27th minute through Deshawon Nembhard whose bullet header rippled the back of the net.

A mirror start to the second half was posted by Tormenta as they took only three minutes to extend their lead this time through Kazaiah Sterling.

Things went from bad to worse for Lexington as they conceded an own goal through Kaelon Fox who inadvertently turned the ball into his own net from a corner.

Lexington finally got going and found their consolation goal in the 74th minute through Nico Brown who profited from a goalkeeping howler after TJ Bush released the ball while trying to keep it in the field of play.

Tormenta however restored their four-goal cushion four minutes later through Matheus Cassini who rifled the ball home from just outside the 18-yard area.

The win halted Tormenta’s six game winless run and took them to just four points off the USL League One Play Offs Quarter-finals.
