Former Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth will be seeking to promote a team to the Premier League for the second successive season after landing a new job in the NSL.
Former Shabana FC head coach Sammy Okoth has returned to the dugout following his appointment as the new tactician of National Super League (NSL) side Migori Youth.
Okoth was sacked by Shabana in November last year following a string of poor results and after nearly four months out, he has made a triumphant return in Migori, tasked with the job of helping them secure promotion.

FKFPL Paul Were makes sensational return to Mathare United after 14-years
Were has rejoined Mathare United after 14 years, having come through their Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) system.
Migori are counting on Okoth’s experience in the second tier after he masterminded Shabana’s return to the top flight after a 17-year hiatus and following a near miss last season, they hope to get it right under the former Zoo FC and Vihiga United tactician.
“I have come to Migori Youth to help them through our fans, technical bench and the players to give them what I have [in terms of experience] to see if they can perform better than they have been doing,” Okoth, who will be assisted by immediate former coach Kevin Oluoch, said during his unveiling.

FOOTBALL AFC Leopards coach identifies areas new striker Arthur Gitego must improve after weekend hat-trick
AFC Leopards coach Tomas Trucha has explained why he was still not satisfied with new signing Arthur Gitego despite the Rwandan striker scoring a hat-trick on Sunday.
Club patron Mark Nyamita has made it clear that Okoth has one job which is to help the club earn promotion.
“What we have discussed is that every single match is a must-win. We are very excited and we encourage our players and fans in their numbers so that we storm into the Premier League next season,” said Nyamita.
Migori are sixth on the 20-team NSL table with 33 points, 10 behind leaders Naivas FC and Mathare United, who occupy the two automatic promotion places with 18 matches remaining.
The team are seeking to gain promotion following last season’s heartbreak when they made it to the promotion-relegation playoff before losing out to Muhoroni Youth, after a 3-0 loss on aggregate.
