In the Cairo derby, substitute Achraf Bencharki gave Al Ahly the lead in the 72nd minute, but Mahmoud Bentayg equalised for Zamalek six minutes from time to secure a share of the spoils.

What Paseiro said

Peseiro acknowledged that Al Ahly were the better team in the first half, but felt that the draw was a fair result.

"I think Ahly were better in the first half, but without clear scoring chances, apart from the shot that hit the crossbar.

"The draw is a fair result between the two sides,” Peseiro said in a post-match press conference.

Zamalek remains in third place in the Egyptian Premier League with 28 points, trailing leaders Pyramids by three points and Al Ahly by two points.

Peseiro's team will look to secure their first win under his leadership when they face ZED at the Cairo International Stadium on Thursday.
