Despite a big win, the Brewers lost the title to their arch-rivals on the season's final day.

Tusker won their final Football Kenya Federation Premier League match by beating Vihiga Bullets 4-0 at Mumias Complex on Sunday.

Tusker needed to win and hope that Gor Mahia lost against Nairobi City Stars in order for them to retain the title. However, that was not possible as K'Ogalo beat City Stars 4-1 to emerge as champions.

Meanwhile, Tusker took the lead in the third minute when Deogratius Ojok scored the opening goal in Mumias.

Tusker continued pressing for the second goal and almost scored in the 29th minute, but Shami Kibwana was denied by a vital save by the Bullets' goalkeeper.

Bullets, for the first time, challenged Tusker, and after a moment of possession, won a free kick at the edge of the box. They were, however, unable to turn the 20th minute set piece into a goal as Brian Bwire tipped the ball over the crossbar.

After they failed to capitalize on their chance, Tusker regrouped and immediately scored the second one in the 44th minute. The goal that extended Tusker's lead was scored by Kibwana.

In the 53rd minute, Kibwana came close to claiming a brace, but he was denied by the woodwork. He was set through on goal by Ojok, but after connecting to the pinpoint pass well, his shot hit the post before the goalkeeper claimed the bouncing ball.

Steward Omondi scored a brace late in the second half. He found the back of the net in the 82nd minute before adding the fourth goal for Tusker in the 89th minute.

Gor Mahia's emergence as champions means that Tusker's dominance in the Premier League has come to an end. The Ruaraka-based side won the title in two consecutive seasons, but Gor Mahia have resurrected and claimed their 20th title.

Tusker will now shift their focus to the upcoming FKF Cup final, where they will play Kakamega Homeboyz in July. Winning the domestic cup is the only way the Brewers can get a ticket to participate in CAF football. The winner of the FKF Cup will represent Kenya in the Confederation Cup.
