Former Arsenal and France star Thierry Henry is in awe of current national team captain Kylian Mbappe after the PSG superstar reached 300 goals against Gibraltar
French legend Thierry Henry has heaped praise on current national team captain Kylian Mbappe after the Paris Saint-Germain forward made history with Les Bleus during a 14-0 mauling of Gibraltar.
Henry in awe of ‘nonsense’ Mbappe
Mbappe scored a hattrick and assisted three more goals as France recorded the biggest win in the country’s history, while there was also a personal milestone for the team’s captain.
PSG’s star forward, Mbappe, reached 300 career goals thanks to his hattrick for France, and Thierry Henry took time out to give his compatriot his flowers.
Speaking after the French match against Gibraltar, Henry said, "It's nonsense what this kid does. It's just incredible. Plus, he doesn't even play in the middle, he plays everywhere. But he scores. He can do just about everything.”
Henry believes Mbappe is too good for his own good
Henry also noted that people are too used to Mbappe’s greatness to notice it in real-time, saying, “The problem when you are very very very strong is that people often see what you are not doing, what you have failed, or when you have not been good.
“Today we are demanding of him, but he didn't just have to be so good too.
Henry extended further praise for Mbappe and said he was happy that the PSG was a fellow country man, concluding, “Let's be happy that he is French. 300 goals, there are some who haven't achieved that in training.”
After reaching 300 goals, Mbappe has set his sights on greater feats, stating that other players had scored 800 to 850 goals and he would love to reach those heights.
