Was Victor Osimhen's move to Glatasaray destined to happen?

Fans of Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen are convinced that the Nigerian striker’s move to Galatasaray was fated to happen given the forward’s humble beginnings.

Osimhen headed to Galatasaray after turbulent transfer window

After failing to secure a move to Chelsea, Al Ahli, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal during the summer transfer window, Osimhen was finally rescued by a loan move to reigning Turkish champions Galatasaray after the general transfer window had closed.

Osimhen risked being out of commission for at least six months if he failed to leave Napoli this summer after he was excluded from the first team in favour of new signing Romelu Lukaku, but last-minute interest from Gala spared his blushes.

Following the move to Galatasaray, fans on social media have reacted by making comparisons to Osimhen’s early days.

Some have claimed that after selling the popular traffic treat Gala sausage rolls on the streets of Lagos, it makes perfect sense that Osimhen would end up playing for a team whose nickname is also Gala, with one user even describing the move as a match made in heaven.

Despite the frenzy at the similarities between Osimhen’s past and present, it is worth noting that although Osimhen alluded to hawking in traffic while growing up, his choice product was in fact water, and not gala as misguided fans have claimed.

After rescuing his season with the last-minute move to Turkey, the Nigerian striker will be hoping to put the negative drama from the past few months behind him as he begins a new adventure.
