Despite the massive gap, the Kampala City Lord Mayor still feels the thirteen-time UPL champions can win the title this season.

KCCA FC patron Erias Lukwago has made a damning demand to newly appointed head coach Abdallah Mubiru, asserting the need to turn the club's woes into joy.

The Kasasiro Boys currently languish in the relegation zone (14th) on the Uganda Premier League table with just four points, 14 adrift of leaders BUL FC after seven matches.

Despite the massive gap, the Kampala City Lord Mayor still feels the thirteen-time UPL champions can win the title this season.

"Your work is cut out; the expectations are extremely high because what has happened this season is unprecedented," Lukwago told Mubiru after his unveiling.

"We shall not celebrate leaving the relegation zone, but what we'll celebrate is if you take KCCA from relegation to lifting the trophy this season."

"I want every stakeholder to believe that we can win all the remaining matches, and it is possible; that should be our determination today," Lukwago added.

"The mission should be to cleanse what has happened. Ordinarily, we would have 21 points, but we have four."

Lukwago then backed Mubiru to deliver, given his history with the club, both as a former player and coach.

"He knows exactly what KCCA is all about, what the stakeholders want and also what the challenges are at this material time," he said.

"You come at a time when we're experiencing setbacks, but these are moments that can be experienced in life."

"This is not a moment to commiserate over what has happened in the recent past but to reenergize ourselves and brace for the challenges ahead."

Lukwago further warned the players against the indiscipline that usually stems from decisions of the coaching team.

"To the players, if the coach makes a decision that doesn't please you, take it and keep in mind that the final man has taken a decision."

KCCA have experienced a trophy drought, with their last piece of silverware coming in the 2018/19 campaign.

And, with current proceedings, it's hard for the club's faithful to imagine this will be the season that they bring their glory days back.
