The grounds have produced some of the best football players including Harambee Stars player Francis Kahata.
The chairman of the Hot Rangers, a Gatundu South-based county league team, James Gacheru has lamented over the poor state of the Kimuyu football grounds.
Gacheru narrated that with the poor drainage system in the playfield, they are forced to improvise techniques on how to play. He revealed that they cannot play on any other grounds considering their pitch is the most favourable as compared to the other ones in the region.

ATHLETICS Athletics Kenya joins growing calls to renovate deplored Thika Stadium
The Thika Stadium was used to host the third Athletics Kenya weekend meet.
“We are always forced to play on one side of the pitch whenever it rains because the grounds are waterlogged. We play in the county league but we do not have a pitch,” he said, as quoted by K24 Sport.
For the longest time, the playfield that has hosted sports competitions organized by learning institutions, molding professional players such as midfielder Francis Kahata who plays for the national team is now run down.
Gacheru revealed that the team, which comprises mostly of the youth, has nowhere to go as they have nothing else to do apart from pursuing their passion to become great football players. He said the training also helps the youth to shun away from engaging in vices.
He called upon the County Government to hear their pleas and help renovate not only their grounds but all the ground in the Gatundu Constituency.

Steeplechaser Jackline Cherono also complained about the poor state of the stadium.
“Most of the youth always come here for training and with such poor grounds, their morale is affected. Our MCA, Joe Kigara knows all these problems we are going through and I hope he shall come to our rescue. We are not the only ones suffering but all the stadiums in this constituency are in a poor state,” he said.
