Mugweri was the skipper of the Uganda Hippos team that reached the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations final in Mauritania before losing 2-0 to Ghana in 2021.
Despite terminating his contract at Al-Ittihad Alexandria, Gavin Kizito Mugweri is still determined and concentrated on his football career.
The Egyptian side cancelled the Uganda Cranes defender’s two-year deal last week by mutual agreement.
“Life will not give you what you want unless you go out of your comfort zone and work hard for it,” Mugweri posted on his Twitter page on Monday.
The former SC Villa captain had only lasted ten months at the North African outfit.
“The Board of Directors of Al-Ittihad completed the procedures for termination of the contract with the Ugandan player Gavin Kizito,” part of the statement read before adding.
“Kizito joined the club at the beginning of this season, and following the technical vision of the technical staff led by the Serbian Zoran, the contract with the player was terminated by mutual consent.”
