A unique clause in Mason Greenwood's loan deal to Getafe positioned the LALIGA club for a windfall from his transfer to Marseille.

Getafe are reportedly set to profit from taking a risk on their reputation by accepting Mason Greenwood on loan from Manchester United last season.

Greenwood on loan at Getafe

Seemingly a pariah, despite the Crown Prosecution Service dropping the charges of attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour, LALIGA menos Getafe took Greenwood on loan.

The England international was clear of legal troubles, but in their statement, the Red Devils communicated that his future was better spent away from the club.

He had a few suitors, including Serie A side Lazio, but Getafe managed to get the deal done.

Greenwood was brilliant for the Azulones, scoring 10 goals in all competitions and providing six assists. He has now secured a move to Ligue 1 giants Marseille for a reported €31.7 million fee, and Getafe stand to profit from it.

Getafa to get cut from Greenwood deal

According to the Athletic, the LALIGA side reached an agreement with Manchester United in the loan deal from Greenwood to get a 20% cut from whatever profit the Red Devils make from selling the striker.

Per the report, the 20% cut is also deductible from the sell-on clause Manchester United inserted in the agreement with Marseille. Meaning Getafe are set for another windfall should Marseille sell Greenwood.

Meanwhile, a women's rights advocacy group has implored Manchester United not to spend the proceeds from the sale of the striker, and instead donate to their cause.
