Ghana’s Antoine Semenyo helped Bournemouth earn a share of the spoils against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Ghana's Antoine Semenyo played a decisive role in Bournemouth's thrilling 2-2 draw against Chelsea, showing his skill and determination with a stunning goal at Stamford Bridge.

In a match filled with drama, Chelsea dominated the first half but only managed to score once through Cole Palmer. Bournemouth, who had struggled initially, turned the tide in the second half.

Justin Kluivert equalised from the penalty spot after Moises Caicedo fouled Semenyo, and then Semenyo himself struck a powerful shot past Chelsea's goalkeeper Robert Sanchez to put Bournemouth ahead 2-1. 

However, Reece James salvaged a point for Chelsea with a last-minute free-kick, resulting in a dramatic share of the spoils.

Semenyo's Goal

Semenyo's goal came as a result of quick thinking and decisive action. After receiving a pass from Ryan Christie, he faced younger defender Josh Acheampong. Demonstrating agility and skill, Semenyo shifted his body to create space before unleashing a powerful strike into the near post. 

Reflecting on this moment, he stated:

“Ryan Christie got the ball and it was a shift and shoot. I knew what I was going to do. The execution was right and it went in the net.”

This goal not only showed his technical abilities but and confidence at the moment, with the Ghanaian taking his tally to six goals and two assists.

After the match, Semenyo discussed the team's performance and their approach moving forward. He noted that their manager's feedback post-match was crucial in motivating the players to maintain intensity and resilience:

“We got in and the manager wasn't happy. Livened us up really,” he added. “We needed the intensity and to get the press right. That's how we've got our points this season by showing our resilience. We just need to keep going as a team.”
