Southampton started the game in dominant fashion, almost scoring within minutes when Joe Aribo's effort was denied by the woodwork.
However, the Saints did not have to wait long for their opener as Cameron Archer slotted home from close range, capitalising on Leicester’s poor defensive organisation.
Aribo, who had been a constant threat, then doubled Southampton’s lead, converting another chance after being set up by a cross from the left. With a two-goal cushion, Southampton seemed in control and poised for their first win of the season.
Ayew’s late heroics completes Leicester’s comeback
Leicester struggled to break through in the first half, but the tide began to turn after the break. Bilal El Khannouss came close to pulling one back when his curling shot hit the post, and the Foxes finally found a breakthrough when Abdul Fatawu teed up Facundo Buonanotte for a neat finish.
As momentum shifted, Leicester earned a penalty, which veteran Jamie Vardy converted to equalise, and Southampton’s Ryan Fraser was sent off in the process.
The game looked set for a draw, but deep into injury time, Jordan Ayew stepped up to deliver the final blow. After a cleverly worked corner, Ayew found himself in space and fired home in the 98th minute to send Leicester’s fans into raptures.
