Ghanaian midfielder Stephen Opoku has re-signed for Kakamega Homeboyz on a two-year contract.

Speaking to Pulse Sports Kenya, Homeboyz TM Boniface Imbenzi confirmed that Opoku returned after his search for greener pastures failed to materialize.

"Opoku has returned . He had moved on to seek greener pastures, but it did not work out for him and now he has returned."

The midfielder returns to Homeboyz for the second time in his career, having featured for Abana Abeingo between February 2021 and January 2022.

The two parties parted ways in February following the expiry of the initial deal, with the player unwilling to extend his stay with Homeboyz, having sought a deal abroad.

However, the 24-year old is back at Homeboyz after his agent Alukwa Mutanda managed to negotiate fresh terms with the newly-crowned FKF Cup winners.

Opoku originally signed for Homeboyz from Tanzanian Premier League outfit Singida Big Stars.

The club is set to feature in the CAF Confederation Cup next season following their victory in the domestic cup.

Opoku’s siblings Thomas Boakye and Peter Konadu currently ply their trades in Europe, as they play professionally in the Czech Republic and the Swedish leagues respectively.

Opoku had hoped to follow in their footsteps by playing abroad, but it did not pan out as expected and the midfielder returns to the club hoping to shine at the continental stage.
