Nigeria's most-followed punter expects to see Victor Boniface complete a mega-money move to Saudi Arabia this January.

Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface is reportedly on the brink of a life-changing transfer to Saudi Arabian giants Al-Nassr

The deal, reportedly worth $52 million according to CBS Sports, will see the 23-year-old Super Eagles star join the ranks of the Saudi Pro League’s top earners, potentially making him the highest-paid Nigerian footballer.

Boniface’s absence from training ahead of Leverkusen’s Champions League clash against Sparta Prague has further fuelled speculation about the move.

Xabi Alonso, Leverkusen’s head coach, confirmed the player’s absence, stating, “We’re preparing without Boni.”

Alonso also expressed satisfaction with his squad’s quality, hinting at plans to strengthen the team with potential signings like Brighton’s Evan Ferguson.

Boniface’s Saudi switch would not only solidify his status as one of Africa’s highest-paid footballers, with an estimated weekly earning of a staggering $1 million ( ₦1.6 billion) but also mark a significant shift in his career trajectory.

Boniface currently earns around $40,330 per week (₦64.5 million) at Leverkusen.

However, if the reports are true, the Super Eagles striker could be set to earn more than 20 times of his current pay package if he completes a transfer to the Saudi Pro League.

Not only that, Boniface could well become the first Nigerian to play alongside five-time Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr.

Amidst the buzz over a potential link up with Cristiano Ronaldo, Nigeria’s most influential punter, Mr Banks, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a message of encouragement for Boniface.

Known for his uncanny knack for sports predictions, Mr Banks, who recently won a staggering ₦111,345,464 in a basketball bet, urged the Super Eagles star to seize the opportunity.

“Go get the money/bag @victorboniface,” Mr Banks, who was named the no.1 most influential Nigerian punter by Pulse Sports for a second consecutive year,   tweeted to his 1.5 million followers.

Banks’ endorsement adds to the anticipation surrounding Boniface’s potential Saudi move, especially as Al-Nassr recently cleared space in their squad by transferring Anderson Talisca to Fenerbahce.

Boniface, who dazzled in Leverkusen’s unbeaten run last season with 21 goals and 10 assists, has faced a dip in form due to injuries and competition from Patrik Schick.

Despite these challenges, the Saudi Pro League appears ready to welcome him as a marquee signing.
