The 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship has commenced with a series of exciting matches across four groups.
Group A1 saw Imo Striker Queens make a strong statement with a resounding 7-0 victory over Heroes Queens.
Chidi Harmony, the top scorer for the Nigeria U-17 national team, led the way with four goals, while Precious Oscar added two more; Ugbala Osinachi completed the scoring in the second half.

First Mahi Babes also secured a win in Group A1, defeating Castmog Ladies 4-2. Isaac Hope, Ovoma Ovie, and Okechukwu Chidera scored for First Mahi Babes, while Patience Odey and Oni Bokuwatife pulled two goals back for Castmog.
In Group A2, Osun Babes dominated Moje Queens with a 4-0 victory. Kafayat Bashiru and Eberechukeu Oleka scored from free kicks, while Rebecca Omodele and Bashiru added further goals.
Gallant Queens edged Wazbak International 2-1 in another Group A2 match, while Kwara Ladies and Fortress Ladies played to a goalless draw.
Group B1 saw Ibom Angels triumph 3-0 over Papa Soccer, with Ijeoma Onweagba scoring twice and an own goal by Anthony Elizabeth contributing to the victory.
Unification FC defeated Delta Babes 2-1, with Oyebamiji Fernanmi scoring both goals for Unification. Ologunleko Philomena’s own goal was not enough to prevent Delta Babes' defeat.
Honey Badgers secured a 4-2 win against DreamStar Ladies in Group B1, while Adeyemi Ayomiposi and Anifowose Khadijat scored for DreamStar.
