Nduka Ugbade’s men had a disappointing spell at the AFCON tournament held in Algeria but Lawali’s defensive capabilities proved he is a star of the future.

The 16-year-old who plays for Mahanian FC was the man-of-the-match in Nigeria's group games against Zambia and Morocco.

And top Nigerian photo-journalost Poojah confirmed Lawali was a raw talent on his official Twitter handle stating:

“U-17 Wonderkid & @mahanaimFC product, Yahaya Lawali is being chased by Barcelona plus top clubs in France & Belgium.

“Remember that he won the man of the match twice and was selected in the Group Stage XI by CAF at the U17 AFCON.”

Another Nigerian sports reporter Ojora Babatunde was quoted saying:

''I watched all of Nigeria's games and I must confess that Yahaya Lawali is truly a good player and Barcelona will be a good place for him to develop his career.''

Ugbade confident U17 squad will become Super Eagles stars of the future
