Struggling FKF Premier League sides like AFC Leopards, Shabana and Tusker will get an opportunity to strengthen their squads as the midseason transfer window is set to open soon
Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) sides will have a one-month window between January 8, and February 8, 2024, to sign new players.
A number of teams have already expressed their intentions to strengthen their squads during the midseason transfer window and they now have one month to identify their targets ahead of the official opening of the window in January.
AFC Leopards are among teams waiting for the midseason window with head coach Tomas Trucha having spoken of his desire to find a striker amid the struggles of his side up front and this will be an opportunity for him to address the issue.

FKFPL Former AFC Leopards defender reveals witchcraft incidents in Kenyan football
In a shocking revelation, a former Ingwe player has disclosed persistent witchcraft practices in local football,
“We need to start looking in the market for somebody who can score the goals more than our players but I trust them in every training and I believe we will start scoring. The striker could be big or small but we just need a goal scorer,” Trucha said last month after watching his side waste a number of chances before drawing 1-1 with Posta Rangers, having taken an early lead.
Similarly, Posta Rangers head coach John Kamau has also blamed fatigue for his side’s recent struggles, having started the season like a house on fire.
Posta won six of their first seven games of the season but have claimed victory in just one of their last four, allowing Gor Mahia to overtake them on the table, but Kamau has been of the opinion that his thin squad is struggling to cope which points to the need for reinforcements.

FKFPL Shabana record lowest turnout despite embracing e-ticketing system
Tore Bobe's switch to e-ticketing system results in record-low attendance, raising questions about the transition's impact on fan turnout.
“After eight, nine games, we expect a lot of tired legs and I think the depth is not good but we will bounce back,” Kamau said recently.
Struggling Shabana and Tusker FC are the other teams expected to be busy in the market to try and shore up things.
Shabana’s recruitment in the post-season has been blamed for their current struggles which have left them 14th on the table and there has been a push to have them go for quality rather than names while Tusker, sitting in 12th place, have also struggled in midfield and attack so far this campaign.

Johnathan McKinstry celebrates 50 matches at Gor Mahia, but is there anything worth smiling about?
Johnathan McKinstry marks 50 matches at Gor Mahia, improving stats, nurturing talent, but questions remain about restoring continental glory.
However, while others will be busy, Kakamega Homeboyz do not intend to go big in the midseason market.
“Going into the midseason transfer window, we are okay. We have many players and others have not even been playing,” said Homeboyz coach Patrick Odhiambo two weeks ago.
