Southampton manager, Russell Martin is optimistic Paul Onuachu will be fit to face Brighton on Friday (today).
Southampton manager Russell Martin is hopeful that Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu will be fit to play against Brighton on Friday.
Onuachu suffered an injury during the Saints' 3-2 loss to Liverpool last weekend, sparking concerns about a potential lengthy absence.
However, Martin is optimistic about Onuachu's chances of featuring against Brighton.
"Paul's being assessed, so fingers crossed Paul will come through alright," Martin told reporters.
"It's not a bad injury at all which is really good news for us, just a niggle so hopefully we can manage that and he can be involved."
Onuachu, who recently bagged a Puskas nomination, has made limited appearances for Southampton this season, with the Liverpool game being his first start of the campaign.
The Saints are bottom of the table but there are still more than 25 games to play, which gives them hope of turning things around.
Onuachu has proven he can score goals, all he needs now is a run of games.
