K’Ogalo fans and the dockers have been engaged in heated online banter with both teams sure of claiming all three points

Gor Mahia and Bandari FC have already stocked up the fires ahead of their Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) clash at Mbaraki Sports Club on Wednesday.

The two sides have been taunting each other online since Monday evening with each team claiming to have what it takes to collect all three points.

Top of the table Gor Mahia visit seventh-placed Bandari with both sides heading into the match in good form, K’Ogalo unbeaten in their last six league games, while the Dockers have won five times and lost once over that period.

It, therefore, promises to be a top clash given how the two teams have been playing, while there will be added spark as the home team seeks to avenge their 1-0 loss to Gor in the first leg in December last year.

“Tumejaribu sana kuangalia our next opponents (Bandari) wako wapi hatuwaoni. Kumbe Saumu FC ni mdomo tu, hala! (We have been trying to check our next opponents Bandari on the table but we cannot see them. So, all they do is empty talk!),” Gor fans fired the first salvo.

But Bandari responded in kind: “Saa tisa kamili, KPA Sports Club Mbaraki. Waangaliaji "table" kila saa kama wahudumu wa bar lazima walale nacho. (From 3 pm at Mbaraki Sports Club, those obsessed with checking the table standings must be felled).”

Online banter has become commonplace among teams in the league who use it to spice up their matches before, during, and after the encounters, while it also acts as another channel to urge fans into the stadiums.

Gor enjoy a four-point lead over second-placed Tusker FC, having amassed 49 points from 23 matches, one game more than the Brewers, and must win in Mombasa to sustain the momentum.

K’Ogalo have enjoyed a good run against Bandari in recent years, winning four of their last eight meetings, with three matches over that period ending in a draw, and Jonathan McKinstry will hope that his charges will keep their eyes on the prize.

Bandari have, however, made Mbaraki some sort of fortress this year, having only lost twice at home in 2023, while winning seven, meaning the league leaders have their work cut out.
