Gor Mahia coach Leonardo Martins Neiva has explained why the CECAFA Kagame Cup challenge as well as the Nigeria Invitational tournament will help his side become ready for their CAF Champions League exploits later this season.
Neiva, who joined as the replacement for Johnathan McKinstry, who took over as the new Gambia boss in May, will be tasked with ensuring Gor Mahia clinch a third-consecutive league title later this season, as well as give a good account of themselves in the Champions League.
Gor, however, started their Kagame Cup campaign on the losing note after falling to 1-0 to Red Arrows of Zambia.

He also gave reference to the Nigerian invitational, where they will play teams from different parts of the continent, including West and Central Africa, and even an overseas team in Brazilian Serie A side Vitoria.
“The competition will be good for us to play top teams from Sudan, Rwanda and more. I am very pleased and satisfied that we will play two different competitions.
