Gor Mahia coach McKinstry hails Shabana's well-deserved Friday win over Tusker in FKF Premier League

Shabana FC clinched a well-deserved 1-0 victory over Tusker FC in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) on Friday afternoon.

The match, which saw Nyabuto's crucial header secure the win for Shabana, marked a significant turning point for the Kisii County club, who had struggled in their opening five matches.

Gor Mahia coach Jonathan McKinstry, who was present to witness the action, left no room for debate as he asserted that Shabana unquestionably earned their triumph.

The journey to this momentous victory had been a challenging one for Shabana, as they kicked off the season on the wrong foot with a 1-0 defeat to Murang'a Seal.

However, they quickly found their footing, managing two consecutive 1-1 draws against FC Talanta and Kenya Police.

The Glamour Boys' hard work finally bore fruit as they claimed their first win in the top-flight league, having spent a staggering 17 years away from the limelight.

McKinstry, a seasoned coach with a wealth of experience, shared his thoughts on the match and Shabana's performance.

"Shabana were well worth their victory. I don't think there should be any complaint; they 100% deserved to win," he declared.

Despite Shabana's triumph, there was no doubt that Tusker FC's head coach, Robert Matano, was far from pleased with the result.

With two weeks to prepare his squad for their next game against Gor Mahia, Matano faces the challenging task of regrouping and refocusing his players.

Shabana's victory propelled them out of the relegation zone, a significant achievement considering their turbulent start to the season. They now find themselves in a four-way tie for the 14th position, sharing six points with Ulinzi Stars, Bidco United, and Muhoroni Youth.

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia continues to assert their dominance in the league, securing second place on the table with 12 points from six matches. Their recent victory over arch-rivals AFC Leopards on Saturday added to their impressive performance this season.

Tusker are now tasked with regrouping and preparing for their next match, scheduled for October 21st at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
