Goals from Ian Karani and James Kibande canceled out Austin Odhiambo and Benson Omala's strikes.
Following their thrilling 2-2 stalemate against Nzoia Sugar FC in a top-of-the-table clash, Gor Mahia head coach Johnathan McKinstry has bemoaned the bumpy surface of Sudi Stadium.
The record league champions failed to collect maximum points in back-to-back games for the first time this season after losing against Mathare United last week.
The Northern Irish head coach admitted that Nzoia were no pushovers in the clash as he went ahead to lament over the poor playing surface of Sudi Stadium.
“We knew it was going to be an incredibly difficult match when the top two in the league come head to head you are not going to get anything different than an extremely tight match.
It was hard, this field is not the most conducive for total football, everyone knows that, Nzoia do fantastically well on it. We had to come here and match them, it was a game we could have won,” said McKinstry.
The draw saw KCB whittle K’Ogalo’s lead at the summit of the log to just two points after the Bankers picked up a 1-0 win against FC Talanta on Wednesday.
McKinstry however added that they could have won the game had they taken their chances and was disappointed to leave Bungoma without three points.
“Boniface Omondi had a great chance at the end and should have at least hit the target, it was a game we could have won but equally, we didn't lose it. Nzoia have not lost a single game here this season.
We come away a little disappointed that we didn't take the three points, it's sort of 60-40, we didn't 100% deserve the three points but when you are playing your nearest rivals in the league and you maintain that gap in an away game, that's the key,” added the former Rwanda head coach.
