Rachier has revealed Gor Mahia are finalising plans for the construction of their own stadium which will help solve their financial problems long term.
Outgoing Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier has outlined how the club intends to become a self-sustaining financial machine for years to come, including the construction of a new stadium.
Gor Mahia have gone through lots of financial challenges in recent years that has proven detrimental to some of their objectives, such as participating in continental competitions in recent times, as they were stripped off of their 2023/2024 CAF Champions League ticket after failing to settle the dues of three of their former players in time.
The club’s fan turnout is also not as big as it used to be, wth fans failing to turn up for matches, which means their matchday revenue has plummeted big time.

Rachier, who was speaking on Citizen TV in a very recent interview, was quizzed on what he intends to to to better the financial situation at the club before he outlined the strategic plan to bring an end to the long-standing problem;
“We intend to actually want to become self-sufficient,” Rachier said.
“We want to be able ourselves as a club to be able to raise our own revenues without necessarily relying on sponsorships, and sponsorships are important.
“If you look at sporting nations (abroad), if you look at La Liga, if you look at EPL, Bundesliga, Serie A - all these clubs are first of all backed by a sponsor - so the question of sponsorship is not something that you are going to write off.

Rachier has revealed how he reassured Benson Omala after his proposed move to Algerian outfit JS Saoura collapsed.
“It needs to supplement our own income, and our own generated income comes from having our own facilities. I have been talking about this thing but people think it is just a joke.
"We are in the process of finalising title documents in order to be able to have our own stadium.
“Things like getting a title deed is out of our hands. You have seen the lawyers demonstrate on the operations. That is something beyond my control.”
Rachier has called upon the Federation to create an environment that will allow the fans to get back into the stadium without hesitance.

“Second thing, apart from getting our own stadium and generating our income, we intend -and I call upon our federation - to create an atmosphere where fans can be allowed back to the stadium.
“Gor has always been supported by the fans through systems of either coming to the stadium in large numbers or even just making contributions to the club to strengthen our finances.”
The chairman has also revealed plans to benchmark Tanzania’s Young Africans (Yanga) to see how they have accelerated their process to become an African giant.
“I recently met the president of Yanga when we went to Cairo and there is a pending visit where we will go there for benchmarking to see how they have done it and that way, we will be able to learn from an experience they have gone through themselves.”
