Gor Mahia showed that they are still the team to beat when they put aside their Champions League disappointment to thrash Mathare United in their FKF Premier League opener.
Gor Mahia started the defence of their FKF Premier League title in style as they thrashed Mathare United 4-0 on Saturday at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Shariff Musa and Austin Odhiambo were central to the victory as they combined well for the first two goals before the third arrived from an unlikely source and the fourth in time added on.
Gor Mahia took the lead just before halftime when Musa squared the ball to Odhiambo who made no mistakes as K’Ogalo went to the break leading 1-0.

Gor Mahia begin FKF Premier League title defence against Mathare.
It took Leonard Neiva’s men just three minutes after restart to put their noses in front as Musa doubled the lead after seeing his shot deflect of a Mathare defender.
Ochieng would add the third 15 minutes from time before new signing Gideon Bendeka completed the rout as K’Ogalo collected three points in their first match of the season.
Gor had started slowly with only Samuel Kapen’s seventh-minute attempt the only time they threatened in the early exchanges and Odhiambo also came close from a freekick just after the hour mark.
