Gor Mahia players are pinning their hopes on the impact of the 12th man ahead of their tough home match against Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League.

Gor Mahia players are banking on home support to see them past Egyptian giants Al Ahly when the two sides meet in Nairobi in the CAF Champions League next month.

K'Ogalo have a daunting task against the 12-time winners of the competition, who are the defending champions, and have won the competition in the last two years.

Gor Mahia received a major reprieve when it was confirmed that they will play the home match at Nyayo Stadium following fears that they would be forced to play outside Kenya due to unavailability of an approved stadium.

Having benefited from the impact of the 12th man in the first preliminary round when they thrashed Al Merreikh of South Sudan 5-1 at the same venue last weekend, Gor Mahia players want even more than that when they take on the Cairo giants on September 13.

“I will keep on giving the best and in the next game against the African champions we need your support, we need the numbers," winger Samuel Kapen urged the supporters.

“The support was very massive in our last game, it made us win the game. They should continue and we will make them happy. We won't let them down," new signing Enock Morrison weighed in.

It is the same message from defender Alphonce Omija, who returned to the club in the off-season following stints away.

“I have never played before such a big crowd. The Green Army turned up in big numbers and that support was a massive boost at the weekend," remembers Omija.

"They should keep on coming. We need more numbers in this next game in the Champions League first leg, we need them more than we need each other as players," he added.

Gor Mahia will hope for a positive result at home before the second leg in Cairo on September 20.
