K’Ogalo won one and lost another to their Premier League rivals as they continue tuning up for the new season in Thika
Gor Mahia had mixed fortunes in their first pre-season match against Bidco United, losing 2-1 in the first, before winning by a similar margin in the second.
Gor played 70 minutes each game, the first one kicking off at 10m and Bidco raced to a 2-1 lead at halftime and held on to claim the win but K’Ogalo responded in the second match when they went 2-0 ahead before their hosts scored.
K’Ogalo have pitched camp in Thika for their pre-season as they tune up ahead of their Football Kenya Federation title defence when they begin with a home clash against Sofapaka on August 26.
Head coach Jonathan McKinstry gave opportunities to all his players to assess the level of their preparedness and must have seen a number of things that he liked and those he didn’t.

FOOTBALL Gor Mahia fans: Kenya Police in Kigali, Tusker in Arusha, Homeboyz in Kampala but where are K’Ogalo going?
Some K’Ogalo supporters have raised concern over the team’s pre-season schedule with their rivals pitching camp in neighbouring countries
Although still early, the Northern Irishman would not have wanted his side to concede against Bidco but he would be delighted that they have not lost their scoring touch since the last match of last season.
McKinstry also got to witness what new signings Lawrence Juma, Kevin Omondi and Rooney Onyango will add to his side, having been training with the rest of the squad in Thika, even as they await to be officially unveiled.
Gor have been going about their business quietly even as some of their league rivals traverse the region, with Kenya Police having been in Tanzania, where they have played friendly matches with Singida Fountain Gate, before facing Rwanda’s Rayon Sport, while Bandari are also in the country for a friendly with Azam FC.

FKFPL Gor Mahia coach McKinstry rubbishes talk of FKF Premier League's apparent 'poor quality'
McKinstry cites last season's incredibly tight title race as a valid reason the league is still of high quality.
Meanwhile, Kakamega Homeboyz are in Uganda, where they played against Kampala City Council Authority (KCCA), while Tusker are set to travel for Arusha on Sunday.
Gor fans have been waiting to hear the club’s plans for the 2023-24 season after their team was last month kicked from the CAF Champions League due to the club’s inability to pay money owed to former players on time.
