Gor Mahia secretary general lauds Harambee Stars for their dominant 5-0 victory against Seychelles.

Gor Mahia Secretary General Sam Ochola has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Harambee Stars for their resounding 5-0 triumph over Seychelles on Monday.

The match showcased a stellar performance from the Stars, with the K'Ogalo duo of Rooney Onyango and Benson Omalla each contributing a goal to secure the emphatic victory.

Ochola, who is currently vying for the position of Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president, has commended the team for their outstanding display against the Seychelles Pirates.

"Congratulations Harambee Stars on your remarkable victory against Seychelles! Your teamwork and sportsmanship on the field were an inspiration, and you made us all proud," he said.

From the opening whistle, it was evident that the encounter was a one-sided affair, leaving even the harshest critics hard-pressed to demand more from the wasteful Stars, who squandered numerous clear-cut opportunities to score more than their impressive tally of five goals.

Star striker Michael Olunga, who has faced criticism in recent times for his goal drought, silenced his detractors by giving Kenya a dream start, finding the back of the net in the third minute to give his team an early 1-0 lead.

His scoring spree continued just three minutes later when he capitalized on a rebound to extend Kenya's lead to 2-0 within the opening 10 minutes.

Masud Juma, who previously scored in Star's narrow 2-1 defeat to Gabon, further bolstered Kenya's advantage, making it 3-0 with a clinical finish just before halftime, taking advantage of a quick restart from a throw-in that caught the Seychelles defense off guard.

In the second half, the talented Gor Mahia sensation, Rooney Onyango, etched his name into the history books by netting his maiden international goal for Kenya.

Onyango unleashed a thunderous shot into the net in the 62nd minute, leaving the opposition goalkeeper with no chance.

Not to be outdone, fan favorite Benson Omalla, who had started the match on the bench, made a memorable entrance by scoring his first international goal in the 74th minute.

Omalla expertly tapped in a precise assist from Rooney Onyango, sealing Kenya's dominant 5-0 victory.

Sam Ocholla has been a pivotal figure in Kenyan football, serving as Gor Mahia's Secretary General since his election in August 2020.

His dedication to the beautiful game extends beyond administrative roles, as he has been credited with providing crucial support to the club's youth team, nurturing talent at the grassroots level.
