K'Ogalo expecting fireworks from Police who have only lost one game under Francis Baraza.
Revenge is generally a dish best served cold, but on Saturday afternoon, Gor Mahia will look to overcome Kenya Police FC in what is expected to be a heated and feisty encounter.
The last time these two sides met in the league, Police walked away from Moi Stadium, Kisumu, with all three points in the bag, but this time around, K'Ogalo are slight favorites.
Gor Mahia comes into the clash looking to extend their unbeaten run to 11 matches, having played to a 1-1 draw against Ulinzi Stars last time out. The record league champions have claimed 24 points from the last 30 up for grabs and have kept seven clean sheets in the process.
However, Police FC are no slouches themselves. The Law Enforcers have found the much-needed consistency as they are unbeaten in their last five league encounters.
K'Ogalo coach Jonathan McKinstry understands the quality Police FC possesses, insisting they are not pushovers.
"We know the game against Police will be a difficult game. We expect it to be all about foootball because they like to play good football and we also like playing good football too," said McKinstry.
The Irishman, however, reminded Police FC that it would not be a walk in the park as Gor Mahia are currently on top the league standings.
"We have played 15 games and we have lost one all season. We have the best defensive record in the league and also we have got one of the best-attacking records in the league," he added.
All eyes will be on K'Ogalo's red-hot Benson Omala, as the former Western Stima striker has scored 15 goals in his 15 league appearances this season.
The youngster is a favorite to smash former Gor Mahia striker Maurice 'Sonyi' Ochieng's record of 26 goals that he set in the 1976 season.
At the other end, Kenya Police FC coach Francis Baraza will look to build on from a one-all draw against FC Talanta. Elvis Rupia is expected to spearhead the attack alongside Duke Abuya and Clifton Miheso.
Miheso will likely trouble his former employer with his speedy runs on the left wing, as he has done in previous matches.
One player who is unlikely to start is star striker Alvin Mang'eni. The former Kariobangi Sharks midfielder is expected to come in the second half following Baraza's utterances last weekend.
"I want to assure all of you that we will work hard in the next matches. We have started giving chances to other players who have yet to garner enough playing minutes.
I fielded some three fringe players in the match against Talanta but they didn't impress me. We will give chances to others for our next game as we will be going for maximum points," Baraza disclosed.
Although Police will want to walk home with a win, historically speaking, the encounter does not favor the visiting side. Out of eight previous clashes between the two teams, Gor Mahia has walked victorious on six occasions, with Police only winning once.
Nonetheless, with so much to play for and only six points separating both sides, the clash promises to be another exciting affair.
