The top two cannot afford any slip ups given they are separated by just two points while Leopards, KCB seek redemption after recent poor run of form
Gor Mahia and Tusker head into Match Week 28 locked in a tight battle for the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) title with K’Ogalo facing a potential banana skin in Mathare United while the Brewers have Nairobi City Stars on Wednesday.
The record league champions will be wary of Mathare, who handed them their last league defeat in March when the Slum Boys won 2-1, but Johnathan McKinstry’s side will be counting on home support to push them to a third straight victory to extend their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions.

FKF PL: Gor Mahia in FIFA crosshairs over another debt default
Repeat offenders Gor Mahia will not sign any players in the upcoming transfer window.
Mathare will, however, be banking on a new manager bounce, having seen former player Collins Korea Omondi take over the reins. The Slum Boys are on one of their worst runs of form after losing five straight matches to remain 16th on the 18-team log and in danger of relegation.
Korea’s men can, therefore, not afford to lose another match as they are five points behind FC Talanta and Nairobi City Stars who occupy the final safety positions.

FOOTBALL Odoyo heaps praise on Tusker teammates as midfielder grabs maiden goal for the club
The youngster netted his first goal for the club in a flamboyant version, getting on the end of a Humphrey Mieno pass before slotting home past Gabriel Andika’s net.
Gor lead the standings on 59 points, two ahead of Tusker, meaning any slip-up will allow Robert Matano’s men to close in if they defeat City Stars.
Tusker relinquished top spot to Gor when they lost to Nzoia Sugar a fortnight ago but have bounced back with back-to-back wins against KCB in the league and Cup to continue their hunt for a second straight crown.
Matano’s men have only lost once in 15 games and are backed by a resolute defence that has conceded just one goal in their last nine matches, keeping eight clean sheets over that period.

FKFPL Godfrey Oduor insists KCB are still in FKFPL title race
The Bankers are seven points behind league leaders Gor Mahia.
The Brewers have made a habit of scoring one or two goals and keeping it tight at the back which makes it difficult for City Stars, 14th on the log, to score past them given their last meeting ended 4-1 in favour of the reigning champions.
Meanwhile, Nzoia who are also chasing the top two for the title have a home clash against struggling Talanta who are 15th on the table.
Nzoia are third on the table with 54 points, three behind Tusker and five adrift of Gor, and can take solace from the fact that they are the form team of the league, having won their last four games while going unbeaten in eight.

FKFPL Bwire slams the gauntlet at league leaders Gor Mahia
The shot stopper gives two main reasons why he feels K’Ogalo are not going to pip Brewers to the crown.
The Bungoma-based side also enjoy an unbeaten home record this season, making them favourites to beat Talanta and put pressure on the leading duo with the hope of capitalising on any dropped points.
Elsewhere, AFC Leopards will seek to put an end to their torrid league run with a home clash against Ulinzi Stars.
Ingwe’s last league win came against Bandari at the end of March and since then, they have managed four draws while suffering two defeats to leave them looking down rather than up.

FOOTBALL AFC Leopards coach Patrick Aussems blasts Thika pitch
'Ingwe' found the going tough in Thika as the hosts Bidco United seemed to be 'enjoying' the surface.
However, Patrick Aussems will be encouraged by his team’s 3-0 thumping of Bandari in the FKF Cup last weekend, hoping that it can act as a springboard for positive results, to move them up from their ninth place on the table.
Meanwhile, fifth-placed Police FC will take on Bidco United while KCB seek a return to winning ways against Bandari, who sacked coach Anthony Modo Kimani following their cup loss to Leopards.
Kakamega Homeboyz, buoyed by their 6-1 thrashing of Kariobangi Sharks in the FKF Cup, will seek to make it six games without a loss when they host second-from-bottom Wazito FC who look destined for the National Super League.
