Sports CS Ababu Namwamba has provided an update on the progress of Talanta Sports City's construction and provided the deadline date for its completion.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba is optimistic about the timely completion of renovation and construction works at Nyayo, Kasarani, and Talanta Sports City stadiums. He has projected that the Talanta Sports City Stadium will be ready by December 2025, ahead of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) inspections.

The ongoing construction is part of Kenya's preparations to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with Namwamba assuring the public of smooth progress. The Talanta Sports City ultramodern complex, located at Jamhuri Grounds in Nairobi, is set to accommodate 60,000 fans upon completion.

"We are confident that the speed that is currently being considered for the construction of Talanta Stadium puts us in a good place to ensure that we complete the work by December 2025 as we said at the beginning," Namwamba stated. "And even the renovation that is going on in the Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums is also going on at a very good pace."

The Talanta Sports City facility is a crucial component of Kenya's infrastructure development program. It is expected to host high-profile AFCON 2027 matches as the nation prepares to co-host the football extravaganza alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

Namwamba's emphasis on meeting the December 2025 deadline reflects the government's commitment to delivering world-class sports infrastructure and ensuring Kenya's readiness to stage the prestigious tournament. The renovations and new construction are set to boost Kenya's profile on the international sports stage and provide state-of-the-art facilities for both athletes and fans.

As the countdown to AFCON 2027 begins, Namwamba's confidence in the progress of the stadium projects reassures stakeholders and fans alike of a successful hosting of the tournament. The government's focus on these developments signals a significant investment in sports infrastructure, promising a lasting legacy for future generations of Kenyan athletes.
