According to reports, Mason Greenwood is unwilling to return to Manchester United after his current loan at Getafe winds up

English forward Mason Greenwood could be set to dump parent club Manchester United for a permanent stay at Getafe after making an impression while on loan at the Madrid-based club.

Greenwood enjoying life at Getafe

Greenwood is in the process of reviving his career after being suspended for 18 months by Manchester United following allegations of sexual and physical assault in January 2022.

The 22-year-old forward was accused of assault by his girlfriend at the time, Harriet Robson, but the charges against him were eventually dropped when prosecutors decided not to go forward with the case.

Greenwood and Robson have since made up, becoming parents together and getting engaged, but the England international’s career took a big hit as he became a pariah, exiled from Manchester United, with only Getafe eventually willing to allow him to play for them.

Greenwood looking for permanent Getafe deal

Since joining Getafe in LaLiga, Greenwood has become a fan favourite at the club and appears to be at home in Madrid, with the Azulones welcoming him with open arms.

As Greenwood’s deal with Getafe is a loan deal, there has been some speculation as to whether he would be returning to the Manchester United team following his temporary spell, but it is now being reported that the English forward is keen on staying in Spain.

According to a report from The Sun, Greenwood is only interested in continuing life at Getafe on a longer contract, despite having a year left on his Manchester United contract at the end of his current loan.

Despite Getafe’s meagre financial situation, Greenwood will be hoping that the Azulones will be able to come to an agreement with Manchester United for a potential transfer.
