The new season's first week saw 24 goals scored across the 10 games.
The NPFL finally got into full swing, with eight remaining games for the first week of the new season, being decided across the country on Sunday.
The 2023 season ushered in by Akwa United and Bendel Insurance last weekend, recorded a total of two home victories, four away wins and four other games ending in stalemates.
Here's the round for matches for the teams in the Group A of the NPFL.
Remo Stars 2-0 El-Kanemi Warriors
The Sky Blues Stars resumed the new season with a bang in Ikenne on Sunday, putting two past visiting promoted side El Kanemi Warriors.
It was a game that saw the hosts dominate for its entirety, scoring in either half thanks to Samuel Anakwe and Ezekiel Edidiong. The win now takes Remo to second in Group A and behind Bendel Insurance, with El-Kanemi starting the season in last place.
Plateau United 3-3 Shooting Stars
Jos recorded a six-goal thriller on Sunday, with hosts Plateau United coming back from two goals down to level with visiting Shooting Stars and earn their first point.
The Oluyole Warriors were the first to make a statement in the game, with Joshua Akpan scoring in the 6th minute. However, Onyebuchi Ifeanyi levelled the parity for the hosts two minutes later. Shooting then, took the lead again in the 14th minute through Anthony Okachi, with Akintunde Azeez extending it in the second half.
However, it was not to be their day of glory as goals in the space of eight minutes from Izuchukwu Chimezie and, Onyebuchi Ifeanyi were all Plateau United needed to secure a valuable point.
Kwara United 0-0 Gombe United
Contrary to most games in the NPFL in game week 1, Kwara United and Gombe United produced a game with no goals, leaving fans in Ibadan wanting more.
Despite the fanfare for over ninety minutes, the Harmonys Boys and the Desert Scorpion will go into their midweek fixtures with a point each.
Nasarawa United 1-2 Enyimba
On Saturday, Enyimba put the Solid Miners to the sword to earn their first win of the season.
With a two-goal lead at half-time thanks to Elijah Akanni and Imoh Obot, Enyimba went into the second-half confident, so much so that a consolation goal from Oche Josiah failed to stop them from grabbing all available three points.
Akwa United 0-2 Bendel Insurance
The first game of the season, and Group A, saw newly-promoted Bendel Insurance stun Akwa United in Uyo last weekend.
The promoted side wasted no time to get their season running as goals from Imade Osehenkhoe and Ismael Seriki made a comeback difficult for the 2021 champions. Bendel Insurance sits at the top of Group A heading into the second round of matches.
