City has 23 points from 13 matches, 11 behind leaders Liverpool and just two shy of second-placed Arsenal and third-placed Chelsea.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has called on the fans to support them during this hard time.

The Premier League champions have lost four consecutive league games, a first under Guardiola.

The coach also admitted that his team is going through a difficult period, following their recent string of poor results.

"We need them because the situation is what it is. They have always been there and have this feeling. They know what these guys have done in the last decade, there are many good moments we've lived together and we know we need the support," Guardiola said about the fans.

Guardiola acknowledged the need for improvement and a more pragmatic approach.

"We cannot think about the results we've had in the past and to think about the big targets (the title) would be a big mistake. We must try to beat a team that is close to us, to take advantage of them and to be close to the top four," he said.

Guardiola remains optimistic about the team's ability to turn things around.

"We have to have moments that are more productive and after that, it's step-by-step to go forward," he added.
