Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has explained why his side failed to get all three points against Newcastle in the Premier League early kickoff.

Pep Guardiola was left frustrated after Manchester City's 1-1 draw with Newcastle on Saturday afternoon.

City's stalemate at St James' Park followed their thrilling 2-2 draw with Arsenal, meaning they have now won just one of their last 4 games.

Guardiola felt his side dominated but made crucial mistakes, preventing them from securing all three points.

"They had moments in the first ten minutes and after their goal, but in general, we played really good," Guardiola told TNT Sports.

City's Josko Gvardiol struck in the 35th minute, but Guardiola's men failed to build on their advantage.

"We made bad decisions at the last minute to make it 2-0," Guardiola admitted. "It is always difficult here with their physicality and they defend so deep."

Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope proved instrumental in denying City, drawing praise from Guardiola.
