John Stones scored in the last minute to give City the win to place them at the top of the league table.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has defended the controversial last-minute winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.

John Stones' goal in the last minute helped City to secure a 2-1 victory for City, placing them at the top of the league table.

The goal was initially disallowed by referee Chris Kavanagh due to a potential obstruction from Bernardo Silva. However, after a review by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR), the decision was overturned, and the goal was awarded to City.

Guardiola believes that the VAR decision was correct and that Bernardo Silva did not interfere with the goalkeeper's line of sight.

Guardiola expressed his satisfaction with the team's performance and their ability to win games in dramatic fashion.

"Bernardo isn't disturbing the position ... Sa had the perfect vision. The taker from Phil (Foden) and the header were magnificent.

"We are not used to winning games at the end, like (former manager) Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool where it happened many times. It is a good flavour for us," he told Reuters.

Despite dominating possession throughout the match, City struggled to break down Wolves' defense, Guardiola acknowledged the difficulty of scoring against a team fighting for survival.

"With 11 players in the penalty spot, literally, it is so difficult," he said.

Looking ahead, Guardiola confirmed that injured defenders Kyle Walker and Kevin de Bruyne are unlikely to be fit for City's Champions League match against Sparta Prague.
