'There is always a first time'-Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola unfazed by record consecutive defeats
Brighton came from Behind to hand Guardiola and Manchester City their fourth straight defeat in what has been a rough patch for the defending champions.
However, he emphasized the need for the team to improve their overall performance.
"The first half we should, not open the game, it was open, but have the control, and we could not, and we are not at the level right now to sustain 90 minutes.
"In the first half, we were brilliant, but of course, the second half sometimes fatigue (kicks in) and they make changes and they change the pace, and we cannot do it right now and we lost the game," Guardiola said.
Guardiola hopes that the international break will provide an opportunity for injured players to recover and for the team to regroup.
He stressed the importance of returning to the level of performance they displayed in previous seasons.
"We need to clear our heads, go into the international break, and for players to come back fit. The success that they had the last seasons were because we had fewer injuries," Guardiola said.
Guardiola's second-worst managerial stretch occurred during the 2014/15 season at Bayern Munich, where the team recorded three consecutive losses and a penalty shootout defeat in the German Cup.
