A Super Eagles star has made his German club happy after he returned to training following time on the sideline.

Bayer Leverkusen celebrated the return of Nigerian star Victor Boniface to training, much to the delight of fans and teammates.

The 23-year-old forward had been sidelined due to a hamstring injury sustained during the recent 2025 AFCON qualifiers, where he struggled to replicate his club form in Nigeria's matches against the Republic of Benin and Rwanda.

Boniface’s Injury Update

Boniface's injury had ruled him out for several weeks, missing the last seven games across all competitions for Leverkusen.

However, coach Xabi Alonso provided an optimistic update on his recovery, stating that Boniface is on the right track and undergoing regular tests to monitor his progress.

“We have hope,” Alonso remarked, though he noted it was too early to predict a specific return date.

Now, the club took to social media to announce Boniface's return, posting a photo of him training alongside teammates Jeremy Frimpong and Nathan Tella with the caption, “The @boniface_jrn vibe is 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸.”

This news comes ahead of Leverkusen’s final Bundesliga match of the year against SC Freiburg, where Boniface could make the bench.

Season Performance

Before his injury, Boniface had been in excellent form, scoring eight goals and providing one assist in 15 matches this season.

His offensive contributions have been vital for Bayer Leverkusen, who currently trail league leaders Bayern Munich by just four points.

The team has managed to maintain their winning streak in his absence, but his return is anticipated as a significant boost as they aim to close the gap at the top of the Bundesliga table.

Boniface's comeback not only enhances Leverkusen’s attacking options but also reinforces their title ambitions as they look to finish the year on a high note.
