Incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has opened up about his transfer plans for the January transfer window.

Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been tasked with returning the club to its glory days, following the footsteps of the great Sir Alex Ferguson.

For Amorim to achieve great success, there must be investment in the squad, and several names have already been linked with the Red Devils in recent days.

After doing such excellent work at Sporting, there are fans who have asked for the club to sign some of the team's star players, especially the prolific Viktor Gyokores, who has 66 goals in 67 games since he arrived from Coventry.

United's strikers in comparison have struggled to perform at an acceptable level, with Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund clearly lacking the required ability to perform consistently.

Amorim reveals January transfer plans for Manchester United

Speaking about the possibility of signing players from Sporting, Amorim said (via Fabrizio Romano)

“I will NOT sign any Sporting player at Man United in January… then, what happens in the summer I don’t know.

"Sporting players are good players. We will see what happens…”.

While Amorim ruled out a January move for any of his former stars, the 39-year-old left the door open for a summer raid.

United fans will no doubt want Gyokores to sort out their goalscoring issues, and replace the ineffectiveness of the team's current forwards.
