Manchester City have offered their star player Erling Haaland a compassionate leave following the death of his uncle.

Haaland lost his closest uncle to the cold hands of death a few days ago, with the Haaland family mourning their loss.

The striker shared a heartbreaking picture of his uncle, who passed away, on his social media handle.

The Premier League top scorer is set to miss the Man City game against Brentford on Saturday.

According to reports from the Sun, Pep Guardiola has informed Haaland that he can take a leave from football to grieve.

Guardiola emphasises that family comes first, even though Haaland returned to Man City on Thursday after his Nations League vacation in Norway.

The Golden Boot winner posted a picture of himself holding the late Eggja's hand while he was in the hospital on Instagram as a way to publicly pay his condolences.

Haaland courageously played through the grief of losing his paternal grandmother in March's match against Copenhagen.

Her passing occurred on the same day that he won the Premier League with two goals against Everton.

Manchester City will be looking to continue their 100 percent start to the season when they face Brentford this weekend.
