The Gunners midfield man is unfazed by the Manchester City striker’s form going into Sunday’s top-of-the-table showdown.
Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has dismissed Erling Haaland's impressive goal-scoring form, stating that it does not affect the Gunners’ mentality.
What Jorginho said about Haaland
Despite the Norwegian scoring nine times for Manchester City in just four Premier League games, the Italy international has insisted that the North London side remain focused on their performance.
“Erling scoring again … it is starting to make us laugh,” Jorginho said about the striker who ha snetted 99 times for Pep Guardiola's team. “We look because we look at all the games and we love football. We love the Premier League so we watch all the games.
We watch [City] as well, which is normal. It doesn’t get to our head. We need to focus on us and that is what we are trying to do.”
Furthermore, Jorginho highlighted Arsenal's improved mentality and teamwork as key factors in their success. The team's strong defensive record, highlighted by their clean sheets and defensive prowess, is another crucial element contributing to their positive form.
“The team is working together, going through the process together,” said the 32-year-old. “You learn more about each other. You just get better because everyone wants to improve and wants the best for the team.
“When you put the team in first place I think just good things can happen. You need to keep in this way. Keep believing in what you are doing. I think we are on the right way.”
Looking ahead, the midfielder emphasised the importance of winning every game to achieve their goals, with Arsenal taking on Man City in gameweek.
“Yeah, if you want to achieve big things you need to have the mentality of trying to win every single game,” Jorginho said. “That is what we need to do and that is what we want to do.”
