The keeper has been linked to Gor Mahia to possibly replace Gad Mathews, whose contract with the club has now expired.

KCB FC and Harambee Stars goalkeeper Bryne Omondi is keeping his options open amidst heavy Gor Mahia interest following the end of the season.

Omondi had a breakthrough season, joining KCB at the start of the season and managing to establish himself as the club’s first-choice keeper at the expense of Gabriel Andika, producing 13 clean sheets which won him a Harambee Stars call-up and won his first caps against Pakistan in June.

Speaking to Pulse Sports, Omondi said given his contract expires next December, he may be willing to run it down and then weigh his options.

“I am still at KCB at the moment with a contract that runs until December,” Omondi said. “Let us get to December then I will see if I will extend it,” he added.

“If I am still on good terms with the club, I may extend the contract but if I can get another place offering me something better than KCB, I can leave. With God, you just never know.”

Sources close to Omondi suggested that Gor Mahia are heavily interested in him, with the player “150 percent committed to joining” the club.

However, Omondi is more ambitious and willing to test himself at the highest levels abroad in order to become more seasoned.

Players tend to use Gor Mahia as a stepping stone to play abroad, and that could be the motivating factor behind Omondi’s desire to join K'Ogalo.

“It is everyone’s dream to play abroad. No one wants to just stay in Kenya. Playing abroad gives you the opportunity to gain more experience and to open more doors.”
