Kenyan forward Wilson Waweru, a promising prospect for the Harambee Stars, has signed a contract extension with Irish Premier Division side Sligo Rovers.
This new deal secures his future at the club until the end of the 2026 season, reflecting the team's faith in his abilities despite his current injury setback.
The 23-year-old forward is currently recovering from an Achilles injury that cut short his impressive season.

Before the injury, Waweru made 30 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven league goals and contributing three more in cup competitions. His performances cemented his position as a key figure for Sligo Rovers, earning him this extended deal.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Waweru expressed his gratitude and determination:
"I'm really happy to get the deal done. The year didn’t end as I hoped, but the surgery went well, and I’m looking forward to recovering and getting back to playing. It’s a slow process, but I’ll get there."
Waweru also acknowledged the support of manager John Russell and his teammates:
"The training has been the best I’ve ever had, and it’s helped me improve. I’ve also learned a lot from my teammates, and when I’m back, I know what I need to do."
