The striker shone brightly on his 100th appearance for the Three Lions on Tuesday night.

Harry Kane is determined to prove doubters wrong after scoring two goals on his 100th England cap against Finland in the 2-0 victory at Wembley Stadium.

England vs Finland

The Three Lions dominated possession but struggled to convert chances against Finland, with Kane twice denied by the keeper and having one goal disallowed.

However, their star forward broke the deadlock in the 57th minute with a superb finish assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold. He followed up with another goal in the 71st minute, sealed by a clinical finish from Noni Madueke ’s assist for the 2-0 win.

What Kane said

The Bayern Munich striker expressed his pride and excitement about reaching this milestone, emphasising his commitment to scoring goals for England.

Kane, who has now netted 68 times for the national team, cited his desire to prove people wrong and his belief in his ability to continue performing at a high level.

“It was a big night for me, really proud,” Kane said to ITV Sport. “I want to score goals and help the team. Whenever you are doubted, it makes you more hungry to prove people wrong. I always back myself to score goals and I am excited for the future.

“We always looked like the team who would break the deadlock. We spoke about being ruthless but in these games you have to keep knocking on the door and you will get your reward.”

What comes next?

England's victory over Finland, their second under interim manager Lee Carsley, moves them level on points with Greece at the top of Nations League Group B Group 2.

The Three Lions are next in action next month when they take on Greece and Finland on October 10 and 13, respectively.
