Wayne Rooney has revealed that Spurs forward Harry Kane is “being held as a prisoner” by Tottenham.

Harry Kane has been linked with a move away from Tottenham in recent weeks, with Bayern Munich keen to sign the Englishman.

According to reports, the German club has already had two bids for the 29-year-old rejected, and a third is imminent.

Kane's contract only has a year left to run, so if Spurs do not make a move in the next few weeks, they run the risk of losing him for nothing next summer.

Former Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has called out Tottenham for holding Harry Kane like a prisoner.

The 37-year-old has acknowledged that seeing his former international teammate at his previous club would have been a dream come true.

According to reports from the Sun, Rooney said, “Harry Kane would be the ideal player, for me, to go and join Manchester United.

“It looks like he's being held as a prisoner at Tottenham! It looks very difficult for him to get out of there.

“If Manchester United have Harry Kane, then that gives their chances of going to win, and compete, a lot easier. But where that happens, remains to be seen.”

Kane, who has never won a trophy with Spurs in his career, is now on a pre-season tour with the team in Australia and participated in yesterday's 3-2 loss to West Ham.

Manchester United, however, has abandoned its pursuit of him because they believe Levy will prevent him from joining a Premier League opponent.

Meanwhile, Rooney, the manager of DC United at the moment, will captain an MLS All-Star side that will play Arsenal tomorrow.
