Harry Maguire's mother, Zoe, condemns the abusive treatment of her son by fans, pundits, and media, calling it "disgraceful and unacceptable".

Zoe Maguire, the mother of England and Manchester United center-back Harry Maguire has delivered a heartfelt statement in response to the recent wave of negativity and abuse directed towards her son.

The 30-year-old defender, who has been facing a challenging period at club level, found himself at the center of criticism following a recent international match in Scotland.

In the wake of these events, prominent figures in the football world, including England manager Gareth Southgate and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, have rallied behind Maguire, emphasising the need for unity and respect in the sport.

Maguire's performance during England's 3-1 victory in Scotland became a focal point for controversy.

Despite contributing to the team's success, he was targeted by certain individuals both before and after an unfortunate own goal.

In light of these incidents, Gareth Southgate took a stand, defending the centre-back and decrying the behavior of some of his critics.

As a concerned mother, Zoe Maguire expressed her dismay at the negative and abusive comments her son has endured from fans, pundits, and the media.

She declared these actions "disgraceful and totally unacceptable to any walk of life," particularly for someone who dedicates himself tirelessly to his club and country.

“As a mum, seeing the level of negative and abusive comments in which is receiving from some fans, pundits and the media is disgraceful and totally unacceptable to any walk of life never mind someone who works his socks off for club and country," he said.

“I was there in the stands as usual, it’s not acceptable what’s been created over nothing

“I understand that in world of football there are ups and downs, positive and negatives but what Harry receives has gone far beyond football

“For me seeing him go through what’s he’s going through is not ok. I’d hate to have to see other parents or players go through this in future, especially young boys and girls breaking through the ranks today

“Harry has a massive heart and it’s a good job he’s mentally strong and can handle it as others may not be able too. I wish this sort of abuse on nobody”.
