Antonio backs Kudus to follow Osimhen footsteps
"With Mo's [Mohammed Kudus] talent, there's a 100% chance that he can win [African Footballer of the Year]," Antonio shared on Prime Take with Muftawu Nabila Abdulai.
But Antonio knows it won't be easy. This year, Kudus didn't even make the cut for CAF's African Player of the Year award. Antonio acknowledges the stiff competition as the Ghanaian aims to emulate Nigeria's Victor Osimhen by winning the award.
"Obviously, there are some great potentials there, but I believe Kudus has the talent to do it."
So, what's Kudus' secret to success? Antonio says it's not just about individual skill:
"For him [Kudus] to achieve that [win the African Player of the Year], I feel he and Ghana, as a team, have to do more for that to happen."
Meanwhile, Ghana failed to qualify for AFCON 2025 after a disappointing draw against Angola.
After failing to win any of their previous five qualifying games, Ghana needed to defeat Angola to stay alive but only managed a 1-1 draw.
