Yamal's flaw
The 17-year-old has earned praise from all and sundry about his maturity. Making his debut at 15 years of age and breaking out at 16, Yamal plays and interprets the game at a level beyond his age.
However, he is still a teenager, and according to Carles Fite, a journalist who claims to have spoken to members of the Barcelona coaching staff, Yamal still has the juvenile tendencies of acting out when frustrated.
The reporter told Onze that the coach’s assessment of Yamal singled out how the youngster manages frustration as his biggest flaw.
“I spoke to a Barca training football coach and he told me that what Lamine lacked most was managing his frustrations.”
Yamal's behaviour after being substituted in recent matches lends credence to this assessment, as while he does not kick out as some players do when substituted, he is visibly displeased, even when the substitution comes late in the game, as was against Young Boys.
