Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has singled out one Arsenal player for criticism, claiming he is yet to improve.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has expressed concerns about Arsenal's Gabriel Martinelli, suggesting that the Brazilian attacker has not improved under manager Mikel Arteta.

Martinelli's goal tally has decreased significantly over the past two seasons, scoring just four goals in 22 appearances this term.

Scholes' comments came in response to Jamie Carragher's doubts about Martinelli's development.

Carragher said: "I look at Martinelli and think probably three years ago when this team was just getting built, it felt like Odegaard, Saka, and Martinelli were all at the same sort of level, looked like they could go on and be top players.

"I think the other two have, I'm not sure about Martinelli."

Scholes replied: "Yeah, it feels like he's gone backwards a little bit. You thought a year, 18 months ago, 'wow, what a player', and he has stalled a little bit.
