Fofana, who joined Chelsea from Leicester City in 2022, recently recovered from a knee injury that sidelined him for several months.
He has been ever-present in the Chelsea team this season and was flawless in the win over the Hammers.
Maresca was generous in his praise for the 23-year-old:
"Wes is a player I really love," he said.
"I am in love with Wes because after one year injured, he's doing fantastic. Any player in the world, when you come back from one year out, it's not easy... and he's doing top."
Chelsea will hope Fofana stays fit for the rest of the season as the Blues look to challenge on all fronts.
