What Salah said
With his contract set to expire, Salah's future has been one of the hottest topics in global football, with the likes of Barcelona and Saudi big spenders lurking around.
However, the winger seemingly prioritises staying with Liverpool, as he utilises the post-match mix-zone as a medium to send a message to the club's hierarchy.
The latest came following Liverpool's triumph over Southampton last weekend, after which he said he was “more out than in,” as the club were yet to offer him a renewal.
What Slot said
Asked about the Egyptian's comments before their Champions League clash against Real Madrid, Slot maintained that he shies away from discussing contract negotiations, as it was not his jurisdiction; however, he ensured to stress how important Salah is to his set up.
“Mo Salah’s future? I've said many times I don't comment about contracts,” he told reporters. “Only thing I can say is... if I look at my line-ups, Mo Salah is more in than out. I don't think there is any distraction for him, the players, and definitely not for me.”
Robertson, on the other hand, maintained that Salah, like Trent Alexander Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk who also have unresolved contracts, is a consummate professional, and remains focused on Liverpool's ambitions.
“Salah's words on his future? It's not a topic for us as players. All I can say is: look at Mo today, yesterday; he's the ultimate professional. It goes for all three of them, Virgil and Trent too; they are so focused on the next game and being leaders.”
Robertson's comments could be viewed as a direct rebuttal to Jamie Carragher’s submission, as the Liverpool legend criticised Salah for selfishly derailing the team's focus with his contract comments.
